Is modern Zealandia an analogue for how ancient continental cratons formed? This large-scale study conducted among some of Earth’s youngest and actively deforming crust with international partners was initiated through my National Geographic Society Waitt Grant. The new findings for Zealandia, Earth’s 8th continent, are fundamentally important to understanding the formation and stabilisation of continental crust on Earth, including its ancient history. The nature of this crust being unique in our Solar System, and also representing the rocky skin on which much complex life and civilisation now thrives on our habitable home world. (This work arose from my National Geographic Society Waitt Grant.)

2014, Expedition Leader. Southern Alps, New Zealand. Funded project as PI, arranged permits and helicopter access, prioritised landing sites and sampling targets in the field, undertook all administration and budget management.
2011-2013, Involved in laboratory construction and instrument installation during the realisation of major new scientific infrastructure at the U of Alberta (>CA$22M; the largest facility of its kind with 6 new state-of-the-art mass spectrometers, 2 laser sampling units, >2,200 sq.ft clean laboratory suite).
I have authored over 40 contributions for international conferences. Lunar and Planetary Science Conference (LPSC) submissions are extended two page abstracts that are widely referenced by the planetary science community.
